You’ll be delighted with what Balmain has to offer. Its line-up of restaurants, cafes, pubs and fashion outlets is hard to match, even in the city. The Saturday market with all its treasures expands your spending choices.
This charming suburb was the setting the Australian film The Sum of Us, starring Russell Crowe., the TV soapie E Street and in the 1960s, the popular TV comedy series My Name's McGooley, What's Yours?
There are a handful of heritage-listed properties in nearby Darling St, including St Andrew's Congregational Church and Hall (1885); the Fire Station (1894); the Post Office, Court House and Police Station (1886); and the Watch House (1854).
There is no car space with this property, however a permit can be obtained from the council for street parking (ask us for more details).
Public transport access, however, is ideal. Balmain has wharves in Thames Street, Elliot Street and Darling Street, Balmain East, serviced by the ferry which runs to Circular Quay. There are also bus routes that connect you to the rest of the city.
